Within the framework of the conference, the participants presented more than 40 expert reports within the framework of the plenary session and sectional panels of the conference. A lot of attention in the reports was devoted to the functioning of the nuclear industry, taking into account the Russian military aggression in Ukraine, as well as the prospects for the further development of nuclear energy and new scientific developments.

During the plenary session, representatives of enterprises, institutions and organizations that were under occupation with the start of hostilities and suffered shelling and damage as a result of the actions of the Russian aggressors presented in their reports an assessment of the consequences and threats caused by these events. The issues of readiness of the NPP and other enterprises of the nuclear industrial complex to work in the conditions of military operations and ensuring the appropriate level of their safety were also discussed.

In his speech, the director of the National Scientific Center “Kharkiv Physical and Technical Institute” (NSC “KhPTI”), Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Physic Sciences, Prof. Mykola Shulga spoke about the consequences of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, especially for scientific organizations and the scientific work of NSC “Khfti” in this difficult time.

In his report “Regarding the implementation of innovative technologies in the nuclear industry of Ukraine”, the director of the Institute of Safety Problems of NPPs of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Technical Sciences, prof. Anatoliy Nosovsky noted the prospects for the development of nuclear energy in Ukraine for the implementation of the plans of the Energy Strategy of Ukraine until 2035. At the current stage, Energoatom NAEC is conducting work on the preparation of the feasibility study for the construction of a Westinghouse AR1000 reactor unit at the sites of Ukraine’s nuclear power plants. The prospects for the introduction of small modular reactors (SRM) in Ukraine were considered, the need for the development of scientific support for work in the nuclear energy sector of Ukraine, including for the implementation of work under the “Ukrainian Power Unit” project, was emphasized.
