At the Gas Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, students of the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of the National Aviation University who are majoring in “Alternative Energy Resources” and “Chemical Technology of Fuel and Carbon Materials” successfully completed scientific and technical practice. Director of the Institute, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Prof. Hennadiy ZHUK and deputy director, Ph.D. Anatolii SMIKHULA told the interns about the latest developments of the Institute and promising areas of research. The students got acquainted with the experimental equipment of the chemical building, in particular with devices with an electrothermal fluidized bed (the process of obtaining hydrogen and pyrocarbon by pyrolysis of hydrocarbon gases), installations for the activation of coal and thermal expansion of graphite, as well as with the methodology for determining the ash content of alternative solid fuels. The head of practice from the Institute is a leading researcher of the Department of Thermochemical Processes and Nanotechnologies, Doctor of Technical Sciences Kostiantyn SIMEIKO.
