On April 27, the first organizational meeting was held between representatives of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Military Administration, Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas, the Gas Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and USAID Energy Security Project experts to discuss an action plan to develop a regional energy efficiency program. This is stated on the official website of Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas.
It was noted that when Ukraine lives and works in a full-scale war with Russia, the importance of energy security, as well as energy efficiency and decarbonisation, has increased significantly. This is especially important for Ivano-Frankivsk region, which, despite significant volumes of oil and gas production, electricity and heat generation, is still energy deficient.
Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas, as a leading institution of higher education in energy, which cooperates with many industry institutions and organizations and has extensive experience in energy security and efficiency, contributes to energy development and security of Ukraine. Thus, in cooperation with the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Military Administration, the university is working on the development of a “Regional program to ensure energy efficiency.”
According to the Vice-Rector of the University Professor Maksym Karpash, the development of such a program will be innovative, in line with the basic concepts of energy policy of Ukraine and the EU, and can be considered a pilot project ready for distribution in all regions of Ukraine.
